Extended Validation SSL Certificates
EV SSL Certificates are used to establish secure data communication conduits via TLS/SSL protocols. The primary purposes of an EV SSL Certificate are to:
- Provide reasonable assurance that the website or device the user is accessing is controlled by a specific legal entity identified in the certificate by name, address of Place of Business, Jurisdiction of Incorporation, and Registration Number; and
- Facilitate the exchange of keys to enable encrypted communication.
EV SSL help establish the legitimacy of a business claiming to operate a website by confirming its legal and physical existence; the identity and authority of the personnel involved in purchasing the certificate; and its control over the web domains included in the certificate.
EV SSL are issued in accordance with the “Guidelines for the Issuance and Management of Extended Validation Certificates” (EV Guidelines) published by the CA/Browser Forum.
The EV Guidelines are intended to provide enhanced assurance of identity of the Subscriber by enforcing uniform and detailed validation procedures across all EV-issuing CAs worldwide. Only accredited CAs may issue EV SSL. QuoVadis is a member of the CA/Browser Forum and was one of the first CAs to be EV-enabled. QuoVadis is audited annually for compliance to the EV Guidelines.
EV certificates have enhanced security indicators in most advanced browsers (such as the green bar in Microsoft Internet Explorer).
In addition to fulfilling individual requests, QuoVadis provides Trustlink Enterprise for organisations that wish to pre-approve domains for auto-enrollment by their Subscribers.
How to get a Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate:
Submit a signed Certificate Request Form
- QuoVadis Support will validate the application and invite your technical contact to submit the CSR using our secure Trust/Link website
- Following approval, your technical contact will be informed to pick up the SSL from Trust/Link. They may also manage and renew the certificate in future from the same website.
